Job Description:
SummaryThe Business Development team within NYPA Development
drives growth through the origination and development of utility
scale asset opportunities in the areas of renewable energy, energy
storage, and transmission. The Business Development team is
responsible for advancing some of NYPA's most strategically
important projects and supporting the achievement of New York's
ambitious clean energy goals. NYPA Development seeks a new team
member willing to learn, adapt, and grow; while helping to create
an innovative and cutting edge asset base of renewable energy
supporting investments.
The Business Development Analyst position is envisioned to focus
primarily on renewable energy, transmission and energy storage
development within New York State.#LI-CJ1Responsibilities
- Perform financial, economic, and Technical analysis to support
the assessment of business opportunities
- Management of projects through development and
implementation
- Co-author business cases for new opportunities including the
commercial model, alignment with policy, and identification of key
risks
- Prepare presentations for various audiences including senior
management proposing business opportunities and providing updates
on projects in progress
- Support senior Business Development management in development
and negotiations on new opportunities
- Contribute to interdisciplinary project teams to perform due
diligence and/or develop new business opportunities
- Support transmission planning and production cost modeling
studies to inform business opportunities
- Act as a liaison between Business Development and both internal
and external stakeholders in the development and execution of
projects
- Coordinate with and manage cross functional teams consisting of
various disciplines for projects
- Liaise with external parties including developers, NYISO,
NYSERDA, and regulatory agencies
- Prepare monthly reports on projects and stakeholder
activities
- Participate in industry events, trainings, and conferences as
needed
- Perform other duties as requested by senior Business
Development managementKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of business, financial and technical
concepts
- Knowledge of project management practices and concepts
- Excellent writing skills with ability to summarize
analysis
- Solid verbal communication skills including oral
presentation
- Ability to work independently on assignments, prioritize tasks,
and manage deadlines
- Organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact
effectively with colleagues and external organizations from various
disciplines and cultural backgrounds
- Knowledge and understanding of the NYISO market and the broader
energy industry
- Familiarity with New York's clean energy goals, including the
Clean Energy Standard, the Climate Leadership and Community
Protection Act (CLCPA), and the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth
and Community Benefit Act
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including
Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPointEducation, Experience and
Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical field is
required
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the energy industry
- Minimum 3 years of project management experiencePhysical
RequirementsNew York Power Authority is committed to providing
fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target
salary range for this position in Blenheim Gilboa & Clark Energy
Centeris: $99,000-121,000 and $114,500-$140,000 in White Plains.
