Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is a rapidly growing Insurance Agency
with an eye towards continually improving our colleague's work
experience. We are acquisition-focused with and rapidly expanding
technical footprint.
If you are a Technical Business Analyst (BA) who is good at a
dynamic, fast-paced environment where you can apply your skills by
working closely with Operations and IT teams, then this could be
for you. Creating and maintaining technical requirements tops the
business analyst's list of responsibilities. Put your detailed
driven technical analysis abilities to practice by pulling
requirements out outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions,
in a meaningful way to share that information with others.
A typical day in the life of a BA at MMA will include meeting with
IT leaders and developers who are motivated to explore solutions to
increase efficiency and expand capabilities-providing insight to
information technology internal and external teams with documented
needs and desires of our operational colleagues in a way that
enhances critical decisions to be enabled. You will be sharing your
findings and insights in tactical and strategic planning with IT
management will round out your day.
Position Summary
The Technical Business Analyst (BA) role encompasses
responsibilities in creating a detailed business analysis,
outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for MMA.
The BA will be responsible for driving in-depth discovery with all
stakeholders to gather the needed understanding of the challenges.
Using the information collected during these discovery efforts and
identifying technical and functional requirements is a core feature
of the business analyst's role.
The BA will possess the ability to compile those requirements and
use best practice methodology to build an interpretation that will
be used to share the understanding with MMA leadership. The BA will
also review the feedback and gain approval of the interpretation(s)
so that the final product will assist decision-makers in
prioritizing decision-making. Finally, the BA will provide a
holistic review of the specific analyses effort as a lessons
learned opportunity to improve the process within MMA.
This position will work closely with the entire MMA support
structure through the following essential tasks:
Gathering and Presenting Detailed Discovery
Outlining Problems
Opportunities
Solutions
Reporting
Design, create or maintain the following:
Data Flow Diagrams
ETL Documentation
API/ETL/UI data mapping documents
Project Support
Assist/Support project teams with various implementations
Help visualize technical information in a way that is meaningful to
business decision makers
Work with IT stakeholders and the project management team to assess
needs and document requirements
Engage and consult with team members on new data, business needs
and opportunities to improve system effectiveness
Required Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven interpersonal and consultative skills
Analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities
Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of
accuracy
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of technical infrastructure, data flow and other
technology
Requirements engineering
Processes/Data modeling
Understanding of networks, databases, API use and other
technology
Insurance agency industry experience is desired
Excellent listening, written and verbal communication
Ability to work with agency, vendor or other personnel to
understand and then document processes
Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives while ensuring timely
and accurate agency deliverables with effective problem solving and
resolution skills
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with
users, agency management, regional management, agency team leads
and peers
Ability to adapt to increased responsibilities
Qualifications
5+ years of experience required with Certification preferred but
not mandatory
IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA)
IIBA Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
IIBA Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)
IIBA Agile Analysis Certification (AAC)
IQBBA Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst (CFLBA)
IREB Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE)
Work Environment:
Position requires periods of travel as needed up to 10%
Extended work hours required on occasion
