Packaging Consultant - F&B/CPG - REMOTEDESCRIPTION: Adept Packaging has an opening for a Senior Level Packaging Engineer with rigid plastics and flexibles (lidding and labels) experience. Qualified candidates should be able to lead development and commercialization of packaging materials and systems to deliver against short- and long-term business objectives for new channels and productivity projects. This role will drive alignment across key functions and model commercialization best practices. The length of this assignment is planned for up to 11 months and can be supported remotely for our client, who is in the Northeast U.S. RESPONSIBILITIES:* Independently leading packaging development and commercialization of packaging materials and packaging systems to support Packaging Sustainability* Driving alignment across key functions and model commercialization best practices* Managing technical timelines, providing timely communication, raising issues and risks and developing a plan using strong project management skills* Coordinating and conducting functional testing, including lab testing, plant trials and packaging material qualifications* Providing in-depth understanding of qualification and validation* Leading the development of success criteria against a qualification plan* Developing primary, secondary and transport packaging in line with the company's objectives, cost, quality, circularity and time* Representing packaging in project teams and partnering cross-functionally (marketing, sales, manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain)* Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, business units, plants, co-manufacturers and other sources of applicable technologies* Contributing to the packaging development for projects of all sizes* Creating and maintaining packaging specificationsEXPERIENCE:* Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineer or related technical field with minimum of 8 years' experience in packaging engineer field (preferably in the food or beverage industry)* Detail-oriented and ability to learn in a fast paced environment* Experience in thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion blow molding* Technical competency with rigid plastics (PS, PP, PET, HDPE), flexibles (lids, pouches, sachets) and paper-based packaging (corrugated, compact, liquid paper packaging)* Experience with rigid plastics (preformed cups) and lidding and labels for thermoforming (FFS)* Experience using statistical tools for problem solving* Knowledge of design principals and application to innovation process* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project and CAPE or TOPS* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and make risk-based decisions* Demonstrated ability to deliver results by working autonomously with minimal supervision* Ability to create a roadmap for short-term and long-term results* Ability to efficiently balance strategic thinking and technical expertise/deep dive* Excellent project management skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Self-starter, autonomous and demonstrated ability to bring new unsolicited ideas and solutions to the table* Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time to manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania/Texas/Utah/Ohio
