White Plains Hospital Job Description Title: CREDIT REPRESENTATIVE Job Code: 800522 Department/Location: ADMITTING FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Director, Admissions Position Summary Responsible for reviewing all admissions for proper billing information. Fulfills the pre-certification requirements as set forth by various insurance companies. Verifies all insurances on inpatient admissions for effective dates, coverage and deductibles. Responsible for completing the pre-admission or pre-registration for patients to be serviced in the surgical areas of the hospital. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. 2. Responsible for reviewing all pre-admission forms. 3. Contacts responsible parties by phone, letter or in person to obtain additional information, clarification of information, signatures, or a deposit for deductible or a non-covered procedure. 4. Completes a financial evaluation on those patients signing Promissory Notes. 5. Reviews patients with recent admissions in other hospitals, nursing homes or rehabilitation centers for availability of benefits. 6. Documents all information gained on the account in the HIS. 7. Performs the duties of the cashier as needed. 8. Responsible for keeping abreast of all third party insurance reimbursement procedures. 9. Responsible for referring self-payaccounts or those with no secondary coverage to the Medicaid Caseworker for follow-up. 10. Responsible for contacting the admitting physician on psychiatric admissions when clinical information is required by the insurance company. 11. Responsible for completing the pre-admission or pre-registration process for all surgical services cases. 12. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education Experience Requirements - High School Graduate required. - Knowledge of billing and reimbursement of insurance required. - Ability to use basic office equipment and knowledge of CTR computer terminals a plus. - Minimum of one year experience within a hospital setting Core Competencies Ability to cooperate with others. Must be able to speak, write understand and communicate the English language. Effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Integrity to handle the confidential aspects of work. Attention to detail accuracy in work. Retains composure under stress.
