Operation Planning Group (OPG) is in the Governance Planning Department of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation - Americas Division (AD). OPG is responsible for the planning and management of operational initiatives for various business units and subsidiaries in the AD. Additionally, OPG performs research and development / feasibility of new product offerings and strategic business initiatives required by the AD and/or Head Office. Included in this scope of responsibilities is the development and maintenance of management reporting for various business units which provides critical information necessary to conduct its business in the Americas and supporting users and development of certain business critical systems; as well as the administration of the NY Branch and AD in-office inspections, operational risk review and communication of Japan Head Office rule changes.


  • The OPG Administrator provides support to roles involved in the planning, monitoring and delivery of projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Will support management reporting for business units throughout the bank.
  • Will support the administration of the NY Branch and Americas Division in-office inspections.
  • Provides support on projects that focus on cross-functional, routine operational matters such as process changes, configurations or re-design, testing and regular reporting and translate business needs into technical specifications for development teams.
  • Refers problems escalated from the business users and more complex issues to senior staff.
  • Reports to the Analyst or higher level within the department.


    • Basic understanding of commercial banking
    • Basic understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
    • Basic working knowledge of financial services applications
    • Basic understanding of end to end project management methodology
    • Ability to research and summarize regulatory and other finance industry specific information
    • Able to work autonomously and be a self starter
    • A developed sense of accountability and follow-through with an ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks, projects and goals
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills0 - 2 years of comparable or relevant finance experience. Undergraduate BA or BS degree is preferred
