The VP of e-Mobility is responsible for developing
NYPA’s electric vehicle product and services business lines. This
position builds a viable self-sustaining business for NYPA with a
focus on market-based approaches that can reduce subsidies and
state support. The fundamental goal is to drive the execution of
New York State’s nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community
Protection Act, accelerating the electrification of the
transportation sector in New York to reduce carbon emissions in one
of the largest carbon emitting sectors.
The VP of e-Mobility oversees the development and successful
operation of a robust public fast-charging network across the State
of New York, builds a set of industry-leading EV infrastructure
products and services in support of our customers’ transportation
electrification ambitions, and establishes strategic public/private
partnerships with NYPA customers other private sector entities.
This role interfaces with the NYPA Board of Trustees and the
Executive Management Committee for approval of funding requests to
drive business growth, program development and partnerships.
Execute the vision and investment-grade business plan for the
$250M EVolveNY business for NYPA
Build and implement a profitable set of products and services to
take to NYPA’s customer base in the areas of vehicle
decarbonization and electrification.
Manage the business as a startup – with a focus on speed,
agility, customer focus and investment return.
Develop and implement business models for emerging products and
services that demonstrate innovative ways of working with
customers, third party providers and other stakeholders.
Commercialize and scale new products and services – building
long term business lines for NYPA and de-risking the market for the
Identify and establish private and public sector strategic
partnerships with NYPA – in the areas of technology, services and
Build trusted relationships with the public and private sector,
including OEM’s, EVSE’s, EV infrastructure developers and vehicle
Work closely with R&D to test the operational value to the
grid of emerging products and services.
Establish strong marketing and branding that is aligned to NYPA
core service and products offerings.
This position has the potential to have a direct role in
emergency preparedness, incident management or response and as such
will require training in the National Incident Management System
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Highly self-motivated individual
with ability to think out of the box for new solutions; must be
persuasive and possess strong negotiating skills; provide guidance
and motivation to employees, customers and third parties.
Strong command of techno-commercial aspects of new business
models and ability to persuade customer for innovative and emerging
Demonstrated management experience working in large
organizations and lean start-ups.
Detailed understanding of the electric vehicle industry and
utility product and service development – including: energy
analysis, life cycle cost analysis, energy contracting, project
financing strategies, and energy systems and controls.
Strong understanding of NY energy marketplace and federal energy
policies and market mechanisms.
Excellent interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal
communication skills for executive level audiences.
Ability to work effectively with consultants, contractors,
private sector businesses.
Ability to work cross-functionally across Finance, Operations,
Regulatory Affairs, Legal and Strategy to deliver results.
Ability to work with a broad set of external stakeholders to
pursue partnerships, alliances and expand effective NYPA
Awareness of changes and advancements in the industry, and
ability to develop industry-wide expertise.
Understanding of how NYPA interacts with outside organizations,
including other utilities and regulatory agencies, and with its
Familiarity of NYPA policies and business practices is
Education, Experience and Certifications Advanced degree in
Engineering, Scientific or Business Administration required.
7 years managing successful teams.
5+ years of working in electric vehicle or storage company
10+ years of working in the electric utility industry
Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders of various
interests in the energy industry.
Physical Requirements Limited travel, primarily within New York
Valid NYS Driver’s License
