Job Description:
The Bronx, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting a
Hospitalist to provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to
Veterans admitted to General Internal Medicine services on teaching
and non-teaching units at the Bronx VAMC. Perform admission
evaluations, ongoing inpatient management, and discharge planning
for assigned patients; document attending-level admission notes,
progress notes, and discharge summaries in the VA electronic health
record. Direct and coordinate care for acutely ill hospitalized
patients with general medical conditions (excluding ICU-level
care). Provide weekday inpatient medicine consultations to
non-medical services, including Psychiatry and Substance Use
Disorder residential treatment programs. Provide perioperative
medical consultations to surgical services as assigned. Collaborate
with Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs) in the evaluation,
treatment, and documentation of patients admitted to Mental Health
units during Medicine/Psychiatry rotations. Participate in the
medical evaluation and ongoing management of patients in
residential treatment programs, including development and
modification of medical care plans to meet regulatory and
accreditation requirements. Conduct outpatient clinical duties ,
including participation in perioperative or general medicine
clinics and a weekly medicine clinic for residential treatment
patients to address acute medical needs and reduce avoidable
emergency department utilization. Supervise, teach, and evaluate
medical residents, fellows, and medical students from the Icahn
School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and affiliated training programs
while assigned to teaching services. Lead and coordinate
interdisciplinary care teams , including physicians, trainees,
pharmacists, nurses, and other allied health professionals. Work
schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm We offer: Annual performance bonus up
