Job Description Job Description Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is looking to hire a School Nurse . Managing minor daily health issues for students and staff, as needed. Performing hearing and vision screenings for students, as directed by health officials. Storing and Dispensing prescription medicine to students during school hours. Teaching health and nutrition classes to students that is a part of the state's preset curriculum. Managing immunization records for students, among other professional duties. SCHOOL NURSE QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in Nursing. Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a School Nurse as prescribed in the bylaws of the State Department of Education. Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred. Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards. Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing. Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
