qualified ER/Trauma RN in White Plains, New York, 10601 About The
Position Shift: 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM Description: Shift: 07:00 AM -
07:00 Pm Description: The Registered Nurse provides direct patient
care and collaborates with patients, family members, peers,
physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare
team in delivering healthcare services. The Registered Nurse
assesses patient needs, plans care, implements, and evaluates
medical and nursing regimens in accordance with the hospital and
nursing philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. He or she
demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to professional
accountability and growth. Essential Functions and
Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse understands and adheres to
the client Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
Utilizing the nursing process, the Registered Nurse meets the
age-specific needs of patients in all aspects of care, including
biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety, environment, and
discharge planning. The nurse applies appropriate decision-making
steps, recognizing priorities related to patient care and
unit-based issues while addressing concerns with appropriate
actions. Collaboration and communication with the interdisciplinary
healthcare team are essential aspects of this role. Patient rights
and nursing ethics are integrated into daily work practices. The
nurse adheres to infection control standards to minimize the risk
of nosocomial infections for both patients and staff. Compliance
with the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals is
maintained. Activities are delegated to ancillary staff as
appropriate under the State Nurse Practice Act. The nurse follows
the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and Scope and Standards of Nursing
Practice while supporting, promoting, and practicing within the
client Professional Nursing Practice Model. The role requires
sustaining and advancing the Magnet model and participating in
performance improvement initiatives. The nurse completes competency
requirements, attends mandatory in-services, and participates in
staff meetings as required. Cost containment practices are
utilized. The nurse assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities when
necessary and performs other related duties as assigned. Education
& Experience Requirements: A graduate from an accredited school of
nursing with a current New York RN license and registration is
required. A BSN is mandatory for RNs hired after January 1, 2018.
RNs hired before this date were required to obtain their BSN or MSN
by December 31, 2021, with verification submitted to Human
Resources. The nurse must have knowledge of current nursing,
medical, and health trends relevant to patient care. One year of
acute care nursing experience is preferred for areas other than
medical-surgical or step-down units. BLS certification through the
American Heart Association is required. As of January 1, 2017, ACLS
certification through the American Heart Association is required
for all RNs except for those in the NICU and OR. Current nurses had
12 months to obtain this certification by January 1, 2018, while
nurses in the Mother/Baby unit had until January 1, 2019. Newly
hired, inexperienced nurses must obtain ACLS certification within
12 months, while experienced nurses must obtain it within six
months. PALS certification through the American Heart Association
is required for all RNs working in PACU, Pediatrics, the Emergency
Department, Armonk Urgent Care, and Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

nurses in these units required to obtain certification within six
months. Registered nurses and advanced practice nurses providing
direct oncology care must demonstrate either a current
cancer-specific certification in their specialty by an accredited
certification program---such as AOCNP--, AOCNS--, AOCN--, BMTCN--,
CPHON--, CPON--, CBCN--, or OCN-----or must complete 36
cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours every
three years, maintained by the department manager. Registered
Nurses in the Emergency Department must complete de-escalation
training within one year of hire or transfer into the Emergency
Department. Successful completion of the Department and Unit
