Description Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to based on the assigned
department:
OFFICE VISITS:
- Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into the
exam room.
- Prepares the patient for exams and procedures.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and
physicians' instructions to patients.
- Administers medications including all types of injections, IV
therapy as needed and within the scope of licensure.
- Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as but not
limited to: dressing wounds, performing catheterizations or
applying compresses.
- Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately.
- Cleans and prepare medical treatment rooms for patient
visits.
- Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical
practice.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for patients as needed.
- Communicates delays effectively when necessary.
- Maintain standard precautions and implement infection control
protocols.
- Set and maintain sterile field if necessary for assignment in
procedural areas.
CHARTING:
- Enters patient information into the computer accurately and in
a timely manner.
- Manages the physician's desktop accurately and in a timely and
efficient manner.
- Documents medications appropriately for each specialty.
MISCELLANEOUS:
- Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited
to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining
pre-authorizations and answering telephones.
- Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par
levels.
- Must work under the supervision of the Physician or Registered
Nurse.
- Manages time efficiently in order to maintain the patient
flow.
- Effectively communicates with all team members to support a
cohesive work environment.
- To be compliant with required training, CPR certification and
licensure.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of school program to become a Licensed Practical
Nurse
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of
New York and/or Connecticut
- Flexibility in hours and ability to cover different departments
and offices as needed is required
- Strong computer skills, EMR experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal Pay Range
$26.00 to $35.00 The provided compensation range is based on
industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on
numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience
