Role Overview Embedded within our client's onsite team - The Creative Director is responsible for the creative reputation of Activatr. They are responsible for building, leading, inspiring, and mentoring the design team. The Creative Director ensures that every step in the creative journey is as good as it can be. This role sets the bar for the quality of the creative product of the team and is responsible for coaching the designers to ensure their success. The Creative Director is focused on the continuous growth of their team members - who may be located onsite and/or within Marks studios alike. They provide guidance and tools to elevate the quality of their designer's work. The Creative Director is a champion for the creative process and fosters collaboration with a positive approach and atmosphere. The Creative Director leads by example, unifying the teams within our organization to work harmoniously for the greater good of the agency. They are the driving force behind building a creative culture, brand, and community at large. The Creative Director is expected to put forward suggestions and strategies that positively move the agency forward. This requires a genuine understanding of and opinion on the creative industry landscape, and the drive and determination to get us to the top tier and keep us there. Responsibilities The specific details of the role will vary, but common activities include: - Adapting to perform any role or function which supports the development of the team - Bringing people together and breaking down departmental walls - Creating a team spirit that extends beyond the design department to unite and inspire the entire agency to care passionately about our clients and our work - Acting as a liaison between the client's onsite team (Activatr) and Marks design and accounts teams - Identifying big picture opportunities and driving our client's business forward - Striving for excellence and instilling pride and passion in our teams - Helping account handlers write inspiring briefs and (positively) questioning those briefs that don't - Managing, filtering, and working with scheduling department to assign design projects, and ensuring that jobs are appropriately staffed to deliver on the client's brief - Participating in brainstorms and playing an active role in shaping strategy - Motivating and leading designers to achieve brilliant execution and making sure that creative work is presented for maximum clarity and impact - Providing support to Creative and Adaptive teams alike - Fostering a collaborative approach between Activatr, Marks studios, and other agencies within the SGSCo design pillar - Ensuring the team is resourced and trained appropriately - Providing senior level support with clients - Supporting, guiding, leading, nurturing - Communicating consistently with the Executive Creative Director, Management Team, and SGSCo Teams to drive business goals - Managing the department's budget in a financially responsible manner, with respect to staffing, travel, and expenses Ideal Candidate Will Possess - Expertise in off-pack, experiential marketing, marketing campaigns, digital and social media platforms - The drive to elevate creative quality and build a creative culture - The ability to lead, coach, manage, and develop team members - Great design chops and a killer portfolio (which reflects your leadership across a broad range of work) - Strategic and insightful thinking - Creative problem solving that is among the top tier of the industry - Expertise in branding - Expertise in packaging design (Consumer Packaged Goods) is an asset - Expertise across other channels and disciplines is a must - Expertise in food and drink - Experience estimating hours, budgets, and timelines is an asset - Clarity of thought and the ability to mobilize teams efficiently - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills at a senior and executive level - both written and verbal Qualifications - 12+ years of experience as a graphic designer in a packaging studio or creative firm, and experience leading creative talent - College or University diploma in graphic, packaging, or communication design is preferred - Proficient using Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite (Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (or Keynote) - A valid passport and ability to travel - to work in conjunction with our sister studios, clients, and photoshoots
