Manager, Commercial Operations (Power Generation Portfolio) White Plains , NY 10601 - Work from home flexibility Job Description An international power & gas company is searching for a Manager of Commercial Operations to support the energy management, real-time operations, and daily dispatch of power generation assets primarily in the PJM, NEISO, and MISO markets. The Commercial Operations team is a small, collaborative team responsible for optimizing power generation assets (owned, minority investments, or JV partnerships) and maximizing profitability margins.

The Manager is a front-office position responsible for analytical support across a few commercial areas. The Manager will conceptualize, develop, and maintain models to analyze the risks and opportunities for power generation assets. Key responsibilities include the below areas and continued support to further build asset management capabilities.

Fundamental and Power Markets Analysis :

• Establish a forecasting analytic framework with an east/northeast focus (PJM, NEISO, and MISO markets) to support portfolio management and commercial activities.
• Follow the physical/financial power markets.
• Research market prices, capacity markets, and regulatory developments.
• Identify key market drivers and data points.
• Develop fundamental research, formulate short and long-term market views, and forecast power prices for commercial decisions.
• Understand power market nuances that impact individual generation assets and the overall general portfolio.
• Develop an Emissions forecast model. Real-Time Power Trading Operations :
  • Provide power analytical and forecasting support for the daily Day-Ahead bidding strategy and trade execution of power generation for natural gas-fired facilities in PJM, NEISO, and MISO based on market conditions and the dynamics of the company's market positions.
  • Assist in purchasing RGGI credits for environmental compliance. Forward Power Trading & Hedging :
    • Support Portfolio Management Director and Senior Manager, Commercial Operations with hedging strategies for owned generation assets, projects under Asset Management, and projects in development.
    • Assist in building and managing a Renewable Energy Credit (REC) portfolio and its associated hedge activities. Processes/Systems :
      • Developing processes/systems to support front-office operations required to optimize generation assets. Working across internal teams (front, middle, and back-office) to ensure transactions are captured in the third-party Risk Management (ETRM), Logistics, Finance, and Accounting Systems. Financial Management :
        • Assist in managing the strategic budget plan, forecasting, reporting, and KPIs involved with managing generation assets and new development projects.
        • Monitor operating and financial performance for minority-invested assets. Educational and Professional Requirements :
          • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance or a related field,
          • 3+ years of experience in power fundamental research and/or market analysis.
          • Understanding and knowledge of rules and procedures of one or more competitive ISOs/power markets (PJM, NEISO, NYISO, MISO, and/or CAISO).
          • Exposure to power trading, power generation, hedge strategy development for natural gas-fired generation assets, and natural gas markets is helpful.
          • Proficient knowledge of commodity risk management analysis.
