JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and operations of legal affairs; providing legal advice and assistance to CEO, CFO, CHO, and VP's; coordinating and monitoring the legal affairs of CHI. Responsible for developing, reviewing, approving, executing, and monitoring the overall strategic, tactical, and operational planning for legal affairs with critical focus upon defending, protecting, and perpetuating the legal strategy for Community Housing Innovations.
JOB-RELATED DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 
  Developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company's matters
  
  
• 
  Overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities
  
  
• 
  Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state, and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large
  
  
• 
  Oversee agency Policies and Procedures and Governmental Regulations
  
  
• 
  Advising the CEO and other senior corporate officers on a variety of issues
  
  
• 
  Review litigation claims and work with insurance companies on all legal matters
  
  
• 
  Review contracts, Leases, MOU, etc
  
  
• 
  Agency Compliance Officer. Developing and leading compliance team leader
  
  
• 
  Responsible for identifying risks and offering advice and alternatives to mitigate risk
  
  
• 
  Conduct thorough and reasoned analysis of complex legal issues and develop creative and effective solutions using in-depth knowledge of the organization's resources
  
  
• 
  Keep abreast of legislation, regulatory and policy initiatives to counsel c-suite on potential legal risks in a way that continues to advance corporate strategy while protecting corporate assets, integrity, and reputation
  
  
• 
  A corporate level of experience with records, review of committee meetings, annual reports, is required
  
  
• 
  Coordinate regulatory compliance. Work closely with the key leadership team members of all distribution agreements including audits, analyses, and contract compliance
  
  
• 
  Acts in accordance with the Chief Executive Officer in developing and executing organization-wide strategies
  
  
• 
  Exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of the organization through thoughts and actions and serves as a consummate representative of the organization to internal and external communities

  Prepare and present legal point of view and counsel to senior management
  
  
• 
  Manage and coordinate with outside counsel, when appropriate
  
  
• 
  Maintain a litigation/legal tracker, noting all CHI matters, including employee, client, workers comp, landlord/tenant, etc. matters
  
  
• 
  Salary: $150k - $175k
  
  
  Qualifications
  Education and Experience:
  
  • 
    
  • 
    Juris Doctor (Law Degree)
    
    
  • 
    Licensed member of the New York State Bar
    
    
  • 
    Minimum of 5 years of experience.
    
    
  • 
    Strong understanding of legal matters involving business, financial, real property, employee relations, and compliance, preferably in the nonprofit area
    
    
  • 
    Litigation experience a plus, but not mandatory provided the applicant can oversee and with outside counsel as needed
    
    
  • 
    Experience working with tax-exempt/non-profit organization
    
    
  • 
    Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining regulatory compliance programs
    
    
  • 
    Willing and able to travel occasionally, to other CHI regions (Westchester, Long Island, Hudson Valley, New York City) as necessary
