Type Direct Hire ID OH113-2721232 Posted Mar 1, 2023 Seeking an ambitious hands-on Director of Engineering to lead the development of technology strategy and tactical support of all engineering disciplines as it relates to new product development and custom-engineered projects for packaging inspection and quality validation equipment systems used in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, and food manufacturing industries. This position requires strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. This role includes leadership of mechanical, process controls, software, and research engineering teams. Expertise with highly engineered electro-mechanical equipment, control systems, scientific instrumentation, and automation is preferred. Performance will be measured against new product development, delivery of custom solutions, engineering quality, continuous improvement, related product margin, and overall operational performance. This Director of Engineering is a key member of the Leadership Team helping the company achieve short-term production targets and longer-term goals that support growth and sustainability. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide strategic vision and tactical leadership for Engineering, R&D, and Product Development teams.
• Lead the research and development of new innovative sensory technologies to enhance custom-engineered packaging inspection machinery.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), communicate expectations, and measure results on an individual and team basis.
• Create strategy and systems to promote culture of Continuous Improvement.
• Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives in all areas of Engineering and new Product Development.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and R&D personnel to develop and commercialize new product technologies.
• Provide mentorship and coaching of team members to support continued education and long-term career growth.
• Maintain ownership of divisional budget, team expenditures, and annual forecasting. QUALIFICATIONS include:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • MBA is a plus, but not required.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive leadership in Engineering, Research, Product Development, or Operations with highly engineered electro-mechanical equipment, scientific instrumentation, and/or analytical measurement devices used in manufacturing processes.
  • Market knowledge in Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Device, Biotech, and/or Food manufacturing is a plus.
  • Results-oriented strategist capable of driving change.
  • Innovative thinker with strong analytical skills who makes data-driven decisions.
  • Hands-on approach to leadership, team building, and coaching.
  • Prior history of developing and commercializing new products or technologies.
  • Disciplined attention to detail with clear and concise communication style.
  • Collaborative work style, but with confident decision-making skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
