Job Description:
**Overview**SMBC is seeking a Director that will lead the
improvements to bank operations, including oversight of Business
Controls, and analysis of other key management topics. This role
focuses on communicating with clients/stakeholders, developing, and
implementing strategy, managing project risks and issues, budget
and resource management and project monitoring and
reporting.**Responsibilities**+ Serve as business lead for key Bank
Operations initiatives, collaborating with business, IT and other 1
st and 2 nd line functions including the Front Office, Business
Managers, Risk Management and Compliance.+ Identifies key
improvement opportunities and facilitates the definition of project
missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements through to
execution of the program.+ Ensure control framework for Bank
Operations is sound and performing as expected. Work with Risk
Management on operational risk matters.+ Implement improvements to
Bank Operations operating model, including automated data
reconciliation processes.+ Escalates decision making for
exceptional operations issues to the next level of management,
including second line functions, e.g., Risk Management.+ Oversees
the work of a team responsible for project deliverables.+ Serves as
final point of contact for complex project related issues and is
responsible for the resolution thereof**Qualifications**+ Expert
understanding of operational functions, project management
methodology, SDLC processes in financial services environments,
including Agile / iterative development.+ Functional knowledge of
the business objectives, processes & products supported by the
bank+ Understanding and use with operations control frameworks.
Demonstrated experience with control functions, such as
external/internal audit or compliance.+ Proficient knowledge of
Corporate Banking Applications and its components.+ Solid knowledge
of banking policies and market, statutory and compliance
regulations.+ Ability to build a network of relationships across
the bank with all levels of management, business, and IT, lead and
drive organization wide projects, gaining buy in and support of
stakeholders for the efforts.+ Strong sense of urgency,
accountability, and exceptional time management skills.+ Ability to
act as a catalyst for change and drive innovation throughout the
business.+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication
