Job Description:

The Risk Domain Data Steward assists the Enterprise Risk Data Executive in implementing the Organization's Data Governance plan across the Americas Division Risk Domain. The Data Steward role will support the Independent Risk Organization data management needs and will ensure that all stakeholders adhere to SMBC's Data Management Policies and maintain alignment with overall Data Governance processes and standards.--This role is part of a team established by the Enterprise Data Governance Program. The Data Steward role will support the Independent Risk Organization data Management needs and will ensure that all stakeholders adhere to SMBC's Data Management Policies and maintain alignment with overall Data Governance processes and standards. Data Steward will act as the key point of contact on all things data and will help run data management activities, prioritize and centrally coordinate tactical and strategic efforts, and maintain data documentation for the processes they oversee.--A successful candidate for this position must possess both a deep and wide background in understanding regulatory requirements and risk management principles, operations and reporting framework, data governance, master data management, quality, lineage tools, financial sevices with a focus on risk management disciplines, project management methods and tools, risk processes and controls, product management, developing remediation plan for specific regulatory and intrernal audit mandates related with data, data technologies.

Works with business to research and document data elements (terms) used in products, risk activities, current or new reports in order to correctly define terms.Works with business to document data flows (Data lineage).Analyzes data or new requirements for reports or data migration and efforts to consolidate data into centralized warehouses.Coordinates solutions and fixes through change management, service requests, testing and liaising with technology support.Coordinates with the business to resolve data quality issues when the issue is due to business process issues, regulatory, internal audit and management self-identified issues.Works with our technology partners to implement the techonology necessary to support the data governance program.Creates processes to streamline data onboardingTranslate regulatory rules into data policies, rules and standardsPromote the use of accepted data definitions, common reference data and sound data usage practicesCreate and maintain business metadata definitions, domain values, business rules, etc.Provide accountability for domain data, ensuring timely and consistent collection of dataProvide data understanding and usage expertise to projects (development and enhancement)Guide and advise others on meaning and use of dataStrong communication, writing and presentation skills
7-10+ years of experience years' experience in program data governance and risk management , operations and or reporting with proven success in project execution.Project management expertise and knowledge of project management methodology/SDLC/Agile etc., processes in IT or financial services environments. For example, experience using agile project management tools such as JiraSolid understanding of advanced risk management principals,--rules, operations and reporting modeling and related requirements and practices across all risk families (credit, market, liqiuidity, operational - financial and non-financial risks and risk taxonomies)Good knowledge of banking and capital markets products, risk processes and controls with good understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management requirements and expectationsBroad understanding of current regulatory environment covering BCBS 239, Part 30 and other regulatory requirements related with data is preferred (Basel, CCAR, Liquidity reporting, regulatory reporting)Experience in leading a data governance program with specialist knowledge of data governance principles and practices.Data analysis skills with the capability of identifying data quality issues and correlating those issues with data specifications and quality rulesStrong database design experience and experience with data modeling tools like Erwin etc.Experience leading design sessions and code walkthroughs.Strong ability to communicate information, business process and system wide changes to a technical and nontechnical audienceAbility to work under pressure and manage conflicting prioritiesBS/ Master's degree preferred: MBA or MS in Risk Management or Computer Science or related degree from an accredited university.Advanced Relational Database Experience (RDBMS) in one or more of the following:
Microsoft SQL Server.Oracle.MySQL.--
